Curriculum vitae politicum: Samuel Büechi

The pharmacist Samuel Büechi started his political work with the revival of the community of fools (Narremgemeinde, Narragmeend), an old tradition of Ausserrhoden, which was lost in the 19th century.

1984 the first Narragmeend of the 20th century was was held in «hohe buche» with music (Appenzeller Spaceschöttel) theatre (Peter Morger, Emilio Schläpfer and others) and politics (Ida Schläpfer, a fictional figure of the artist H.R. Fricker was elected as Narrenrat). The main issue of this first Narragmeend was the still missing wright to vote for women.

Samuel was as member of the “environmental protection commission” and the “technical building commission” of Trogen in the 1990s.

2004 he was a co-founder of the political group «Grünes Appenzellerland» (GRAL) and the «IG Stiller», a interest group for less noise.

In Appenzell Ausserrhoden he was twice a candidate for the GRAL, once for the National Council and once for the Government Council. The project GRAL was stopped 2016.

Herisau, 2011 (Appenzeller Zeitung)

IG Stiller was the pioneer in the fight against church bell noise in the night and became known in connection with the process against the church and the political community of Trogen, which he had led together with his neighbor. This process was one of the few lawsuits that went well for the plaintiffs and together with the media work a change in thinking could be initiated. In between time beat was stopped in many places or its volume or frequency were reduced. IG Stiller focused also on animal bells and the question if the weight and loudness of this tradition is in accordance with animal health.
